Anne Hathaway is too classy for upskirts (but not for weird boots)

Earlier this week, a rather unfortunate photo was taken of Les Miserables actress Anne Hathaway exiting a car with no skivvies on, thus forcing the star to join a long lineage of actresses, female musicians and other such public figures whose ladybits have been circulated on the Internet against their will. But unlike other such stars who would scoff and deny the veracity of such images, Hathaway is taking her unintentional flash with a grain of salt.

“It was obviously an unfortunate incident,” Hathaway told Matt Lauer on the Today Show. “It kind of made me sad on two accounts. One was that I was very sad that we live in an age when someone takes a picture of another person in a vulnerable moment, and rather than delete it, and do the decent thing, sells it. And I’m sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies the sexuality of unwilling participants. Which brings us back to Les Mis…”

Such tact! Apparently, when Hathaway first found out about the gaffe she was at a press event at the Four Seasons in New York City, and said she was trying to find the humour in the situation. “It has hit. It has landed. A bomb has gone off,” she said. “I think what I am going to do is whatever my next appearance is … I’m going to step out of the car in a blanket. You’ve got to laugh at it.”

And besides, say what you will about the upskirt shot, but the real story of the night for us was Hathaway’s knee-high leg-brace fetish boots, pictured above. You’ve got to laugh at those, too, Anne.
